SPECIAL NOTES:
For all Instruments listed above and all heater boards
ordered between December 5, 1997 and January 8, 1998, the
four heater boards on the cup chemistries need to be
visually checked. If the board contains a Texas Instrument
IC chip, it must be replaced.
After completing the replacement of boards or the inspection
with no replacement boards needed, the Engineer is to Email
Terry Edson at tledson@beckman.com with the following
information:
Facility name and country.
A. Instrument Serial Number.
B. Number of boards replaced (if any).
C. Date boards replaced/inspection.
SYMPTOMS:
Slow temperature recovery. This could produce a WRONG
ANSWER with this board.
Manufacturing has found a non-validated IC chip on the
heater board assemblies. These IC s can be identified by
the TI symbol on the chip (looks like the state of Texas
with an I on it).
Any heater board manufactured between December 5, 1997 and
January 8, 1998 could have this chip and should be checked.
All inventories have been reworked to remove the bad chips.
Approximately 25 replacement heater boards have been sent
out that could have this Bad chip.
WARNING:
USE STATIC PRECAUTIONS WHEN WORKING WITH ALL
BOARDS. THIS INCLUDES WEARING AN ESD WRIST
STRAP AND WORKING ON A STATIC FREE MAT.
Engineers who provide primary support for the instrument
with serial numbers listed are to contact:
