Special Notes
Once the hardware is installed, be sure to enable the ODC feature via software.
Calibration of the ODC transducer must also be done after enabling the feature.
Installation Instructions
This procedure presumes the CX4 ODC hardware and drain tube are installed on the system. If the CX4 ODC hardware is not installed, click here to go to the installation instructions for the CX4 ODC hardware ==> .

Step
Action
1
Remove the CX3 sample wheel cover.
2
Install new CX3 Sample Wheel cover (p/n 475460). The cover is keyed so it can be installed one way. Place the biohazard label (p/n 456162) on the cover to the left of the opening for the vial.
3
Install one vial from the bag of vials (p/n 977230) into the round opening in the cover. This vial is the clot detection spit cup.
NOTE
Vial should not have a lid on it.
4
Shutdown the instrument through the System Idle screen.
5
Remove the CX3 MMC board. Install the new CX3 MMC board (p/n 475487).
6
Locate the allen head screws on the right side of the CX3 frame. Remove the middle allen head screw and retain for reinstallation.
7
Install the ODC assembly so the elbow fitting is away from the wall. Use the screw removed in step 7 to secure the assembly to the frame.
8
The ODC cable can be routed to the board by one of two methods.
Method 1 involves routing the cable through an opening at the rear of the CX3 card cage. Some engineers may have problems with this method and should use Method 2.
Method 2 involves removing the top right rear panel to provide clearance for routing the tube.
The following picture illustrates how the cable is routed and attached to the board regardless of the method used for routing the cable.
Method 1 for Routing CX3 ODC cable to board
8A
Look along the right wall of the CX3 side of the instrument. Locate the opening at the rear of the wall.
8B
Route the CX3 ODC cable through this opening. Insert the plug in the connector on the bottom of the CX3 MMC board.
Method 2 for Routing CX3 ODC cable to board
8AA
Move the instrument away from the wall and remove the top right panel to gain access to the CX3 card cage.
8BB
Route the CX3 ODC cable out the back of the instrument and up to the card cage. Insert the plug in the connector on the bottom of the CX3 MMC board.
8CC
Reinstall the rear panel and put the instrument back in its original location.
9
Remove line 1 from the sample probe. Locate the end of line 1 which is on the right side of the E-cam. Disconnect the tubing at the fitting. Remove line 1 (including fitting) from e-cam to the sample probe.
10
Install one adapter fitting (p/n 977421) to the end of the E-cam tube (p/n 475526) which doesn't have the barbed fitting. Install the adapter end into the port on the top of the CX3 ODC assembly. This fitting will be finger tight. Connect the other end of the E-cam tube (end with barb fitting) to the end of line 1 coming out of the E-cam.
Do not use a wrench to tighten the adapter fitting to the ODC assembly.
11
Install one adapter fitting (p/n 977421) to either end of the CX3 Sample probe tube (p/n 475523). Install the adapter fitting in the front port of the ODC assembly. This fitting will be finger tight. Route the other end of the tube to the CX3 sample probe and attach tubing to the CX3 sample probe.
12
Locate the tee in the drain tube on the CX4 ODC assembly. Attach the tube with the luer lock fitting to the drain fitting on the side of the CX3 ODC assembly. Route the tube so the CX3 sample probe movement is not affected.
